My four Aunts performed in the 1930's as an Italian Quartet called the Monforte sisters. They were Laura, Wilma, Gay and Jo.
They did the State Fair circuit in the midwest and performed at many events in the Chicago area. But their best gig was at the Italian Pavilion at the 1933-34 Chicago World's Fair. In 1934, the famous fan dancer Sally Rand performed there and my aunts were the opening act. .
. In 1977 they had a reunion with Sally as Wilma, Laura, Sally, Gay and Jo got to reminisce about memories from 43 years earlier.
Sally Rand did a dance with Ostrich Feathers..it was called a Fan Dance!
ANNIE MILLSTONE'S RENDEZVOUS IS WHERE THEY PERFORMED OFTEN! IT BOASTED THE LONGEST BAR IN CHICAGO!
